To be consistent
Hellow, I’m back.
For a while I have been slowly returning with my activities as a game dev since holidays ended and my plan for this year has been kinda difficult to make since I’m planning a lot of things and a huge change is happening in my life.
For my dev log, I decided to make a question for myself which is crucial for what I’m doing: How do I keep this narrative consistent? Am I really prepared for a huge role that is to make a character that is so different from myself?
First of all, to answer the last question, yes. That’s your job literally lmao
To be a narrative designer is not only about arranging things, it’s a challenge to make the story make sense in every little crevice. No doubt.
Now, for the consistent part, we have to see what we have in hand.
Who are we talking about? What is the profile? Is it too far or closer than you think? Write what we are talking about.
What do we have to make them seem realistic? Not really realistic, that isn’t the word. What do we have to make them seem faithful? What aspects do they have that you think is the heart for the plot?
You know what I mean?
These things make an excellent narrative at the core. Of course, there are behaviours that wouldn’t match with other cultures which is totally normal, that happens all the time. However, we must solidify our roots to make the tree as wonderful as an Araucária. Majestic tree that make an impression on whoever crosses their way. Even from above they are perceived.
For that reason, I reviewed some principles in the narrative of our biggest project yet. What makes the story keep going so that it is coherent. That’s a constant exercise and I have to make it clear in my head.
